At the core of Agile and DevOps methodology is rapid delivery of valuable functionality, services or processes to customers. How we measure and define that value drives the prioritization of those user stories for development or task execution. But how well developed are our techniques for determining business value? How many of our epics (often business values are assigned at the Epic level where the values are more easily identified) have well-depicted business values assigned which could be validated by a variety of stakeholders.
In our session, we will use a sample epic to explore ways to define business value - and then each table will walk through the exercise - time-boxed of course. Then we will share table by table how we went through the process. Finally, if we have time, we will make a list of important elements that members of our group have found useful in defining business value in their business/industry and publish the list to attendees along with some resources.
