User Groups: Agile@Arabia

Agile@Arabia is the Scrumalliance.org User Group for the GCC countries.

Today, Software is everywhere.  It has become an integral part of our life.  In every walk of our life, the influence of software is becoming more and more as the time goes.

As the software is playing more and more critical role in our daily life, there is a strong need to have an agile and flexible approach to build the same. We can also see the expectations of the end users are changing and becoming highly demanding.  One need to satisfy those demands to survive in the market.

Customer needs everything today if not yesterday!  Quality, time to market and responsiveness to the changes are some of the modern time challenges of software industry.  Apart from all of this, frequent emergence of new technologies creates more challenges to the solution providers and developers.  Of course, this creates new opportunities also!

The waterfall model development days are gone, since it is very difficult to accommodate the ever changing requirements to the system. In the waterfall model, to demonstrate the economic value of the proposed solution, one needs to wait to the fag end of the development process.  This is no more acceptable in the current scenario.

‘Agile’ is making a complete change in the development approach and has become the most suitable methodology for software development practices.  Frequent releases and working software makes the customer happy.  The economic value has been demonstrated much earlier through incremental solution deliveries.  Agile method increases the team- work. The crux of the agile manifesto: importance to the individuals, focus on customer collaboration, faster response to changes and always demonstrate a working software.

Today, Scrum is the dominant agile method used widely with more than 66% market share (including all scrum variants).  Scrum is an agile framework suitable for any types of software development; product development or complex and projects of innovative in scope.  It provides the right approach to accommodate the ever increasing customer expectations as well as the shrinking time to market challenges.

Agile@Arabia!  is the new Scrumalliance.org user group in the GCC region to foster the values of agile development approaches from Scrumalliance.  Agile@Arabia, will act as a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous learning.  If you are a software developer, tester, designer or any way connected to the software development life cycle activities then, come and join the Agile@Arabia user group!

Let’s Learn, share and collaborate to build a better future!
